- Who hires them
- External audit firms (BSI Group, TÜV, DNV, Bureau Veritas, SGS) and internal-audit functions at larger organisations. Big-4 advisory arms hire them for ISMS assurance work too.
- Who certifies the credential
- Personnel certifiers: PECB, CQI/IRCA, Exemplar Global, TRECCERT. Same standard, different exam mechanics - PECB uses 80 multiple-choice questions with scenario sets, CQI/IRCA combines multiple-choice with a practical audit assessment, Exemplar Global pairs a written exam with an auditor log of completed audits.

I picked the wrong exam. Can I switch?
Anytime, from Settings. Your progress on shared clauses follows you - about 70% of 27001 Lead Auditor content carries to 27001 Lead Implementer, and the HLS clauses (4-10) carry across the 27001 + 42001 management-system exams. ISO 31000 is a separate guidance standard with its own clause structure.
Why these exams specifically? When are others coming?
These are the exams candidates ask about most, and where the adaptive engine has a real edge. ISO 27001 LA/LI and ISO 42001 LA/LI cover the high-demand management-system roles; ISO 31000 Risk Manager covers the practitioner / second-line risk function. ISO 27701 (privacy) is still on the roadmap. Customer demand drives the order.

BSI, TUV and DNV are training and audit firms whose Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer courses are typically CQI/IRCA-accredited, so candidates who train through them sit under CQI/IRCA. The practice content is grounded in the ISO standards themselves, which are identical regardless of certification body. Only the exam format differs (PECB Lead Auditor exams are 80 multiple-choice questions over 3 hours, open book, 70% pass).
