ISO exam practice for candidates in the US.
Mindset Prep is an adaptive practice app for five PECB exams in ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO 31000. This page covers US-dollar prices, the trial terms, booking PECB's exam and where the credential fits in US compliance work.
Mindset Prep is independent of PECB and is not endorsed by it.
First-time subscribers get a 3-day free trial, then pay US$19.99 a month, US$44.99 every 3 months or US$119.99 a year. A card is required to start. The plan renews automatically every billing period until canceled. Prices may change, with notice first. Cancel online anytime in Settings > Billing, or through the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there; App Store subscribers must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or billing period ends. Web trials get a reminder email roughly a day before they end. If you cancel, access continues through the current period. Questions: hello@mindsetprep.com.au.
Practice that adapts to what you miss.
Every question is original and written from the published standard, and its explanation cites the clause behind the answer wherever there is one. The app recommends drilling the domain with the most points at risk, every question you miss stays in your Mistake Bank until you answer it correctly, and the AI Coach walks you through each wrong answer in plain English. Timed mock exams and a readiness score show how close you are. One subscription covers all five exams on the web and in the iPhone and Android apps.
The exams it covers.
Since October 2026, myPECB has included free PECB practice exams (opens in a new tab); if one covers your exam, take it first. Mindset Prep adds a bank of original questions to use alongside them, covering five exams:
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer
- ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
- ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer
- ISO 31000 Risk Manager
Before a trial, try the free practice pages for 27001 Lead Auditor, 27001 Lead Implementer, 42001 Lead Auditor, 42001 Lead Implementer and 31000 Risk Manager. No card needed.
Where a PECB credential fits in US security work.
PECB certifies people under ISO/IEC 17024, the international standard for bodies that certify persons. The International Accreditation Service (IAS) accredits PECB under it for its ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor, ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer and ISO 31000 Risk Manager credentials, and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) does so for its ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer credentials.
In US compliance work, a SOC 2 report is an attestation by an independent CPA firm, an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate follows a certification body's audit of the organization, and organizations are commonly asked for both. NIST's Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, released in February 2024, is written for organizations of every type and size, and NIST's catalog of informative references (opens in a new tab) includes a mapping from ISO/IEC 27001:2022 to CSF 2.0.
Taking the PECB exam from the US.
- Where: online in the PECB Exams app on Windows or Mac, watched by a PECB proctor through your webcam, or on paper through your course partner.
- When: for online exams, you book a date and time in myPECB that suits you, anywhere in the US.
- Online changes: two reschedules cost nothing; after that, each costs the exam fee, and none are allowed within 48 hours of the start.
- Retakes: if you fail your first attempt, PECB requires a 15-day wait.
- With a course: a PECB partner's course covers the first sitting, one retake, the certificate application fee and year one of the annual maintenance fee, all within 12 months of the course.
- Without a course: PECB bills US$1,000 per Lead exam sitting and US$500 to apply for the certificate.
- During the exam: no phones, tablets or AI tools, and sharing exam content violates PECB's Code of Ethics (opens in a new tab). Mindset Prep is for study before the exam, not during it.
From PECB's exam rules (opens in a new tab), online exam policy (opens in a new tab) and candidate handbooks (opens in a new tab), as of October 25, 2026. PECB can update them, so confirm on pecb.com (opens in a new tab) before booking.
